About an hours drive from Patti, Messina, Taormina is a reknowned holiday hot spot for the rich and famous. Here you will find many little treasures within the small streets of Taormina's centre, but be preapared to witness countless wedding ceremonies, as the medditeranean location brings fabulously wealthy couples from around the world to celebrate theier big day. Taormina is also fantastic for shopping, dining and of course visiting The Greek-Roman Theatre. The origins of the theatre are to this day unknown, yet it is a constant debate as to whether it is Greek or Roman. The theatre continues to be used as a venue for events such as the Taormina Film Fest and is the second-largest theatre in Sicily, after Siracusa.
